Photorealism & Realism Paintings

My all-time favorite artists, in order, are Rembrandt, Durer, Michelangelo, Constable, Da Vinci, and Inness. This list has remained unchanged since I was thirteen, with the exception of my fluctuating preference between Rembrandt and Durer. However, at this moment, I favor the master from Leiden. What I admire most about these artists is their versatility, which I believe is a true measure of greatness. I've often told my students that if your work looks the same over the years, you’re not evolving as an artist. Embracing change is essential, as stagnation can stifle creativity. Throughout the decades, I've explored various mediums and realized that it's impossible for me to commit to just one style. During my daily six-minute walk to the studio, I still feel like that young man with a pencil and paper, eager to see what the day holds. A quote I have hanging in my studio reads: "Every child is an artist. The problem is to remain an artist once they grow up". – Pablo Picasso. And by the way I also admire Picasso's works. So, to all young artists, I encourage you to grow and experiment with your art. Don't force a style; it will naturally reveal itself to you.
