The Samurai series premiered in January 2017, inspired by the stunning Samurai armor exhibition at the Frist Museum in Nashville. This remarkable showcase of Japanese culture provided visuals that went beyond mere documentation. My intention was to honor the legendary warrior class that emerged in the 12th century and ruled Japan until 1870's. By deliberately blurring the images, I sought to highlight the strength of these extraordinary warriors, emphasizing their vibrant colors, tones, compositions, and unyielding spirit.
