The Silent Prayer of the Mantis
By Eric Buechel
In verdant realms where shadows softly creep, there dwells a creature, silent, wise, and deep. With limbs like dancers, poised in a graceful stance, the mantis prays, enwrapped in nature's trance. Her verdant gemstone
visage, cloaked in tranquil hue, is a sentinel of secrets, known to few. With eyes like jewels, glistening in the light, she watches o'er the world, both day and night. Upon the fragile leaf, she kneels in prayer, A quiet hymn to life, to love, to air. In stillness, she beseeches fate's embrace, the fleeting moments, time's unyielding race. Yet in her beauty lies a fierce design, A hunter's heart, a will to intertwine. With patience wrought, she waits for fate's decree, A dance of life and death, a symphony. Oh, mantis fair, thy whispered thoughts ascend, In nature's court, thou art both foe and friend. For in thy silent prayer, the truth we find, That life, though brief, is wondrously entwined. So let us learn from thee, O creature wise, To cherish fleeting moments 'neath the skies. In every breath, a prayer, a silent vow, to honor life, as the good mantis teaches how.
