Rainy Day in New York City
By Eric Buechel
On a rainy day in New York's embrace,
Sidewalks shimmer, a reflective space.
Umbrellas bloom like flowers in spring,
Each color a note in the city's soft swing.
Raindrops dance on the pavement's face,
Whispers of stories in every trace.
Taxi horns blare, a symphony loud,
As puddles gather, a shimmering crowd.
Steam rises gently from manhole vents,
While lovers seek shelter, their laughter immense.
Street vendors huddle, their carts dripping wet,
Serving warm pretzels, a savory bet.
In the distance, the skyline stands tall,
Veiled in a mist, a soft, silken shawl.
People rush by, each lost in their way,
Yet in this chaos, there’s beauty today.
For rain in the city is a rhythm, a beat,
A reminder that life’s not just sunshine and heat.
So let the clouds gather, let the skies gray,
In New York, even rain has its way.
