The Imagination of a Child
by Eric Buechel
In a land where the jellybeans grow on trees,
And the clouds are made of cotton candy, if you please,
A child rides a dragon with glittery scales,
Sailing through oceans of chocolate chip trails.
With a cape made of sheets and a crown of tin foil,
They fight off the monsters that lurk in the soil.
Their trusty sidekick, a stuffed teddy bear,
Together, they conquer the wildest of air!
The sun is a giant, smiling grapefruit,
While the moon plays the banjo in a polka-dot suit.
The rivers run fizzy, the mountains are pies,
And unicorns giggle as they soar through the skies.
In this world of wonder, where dreams take flight,
A child’s imagination shines oh so bright.
So let’s all remember, as we grow and we age,
To keep a bit of that magic, to never disengage!
