Wash Your Spirit Clean

Another painting in my series of South Cumberland State Park in Tennessee, completed this month. I love this quote by the Scottish-American naturalist John Muir, "Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean". These words ring true to me. Isn't that why we return to the woods again and again? The sky, the woods and fields, brooks and meadows, the hills and the ravines, are the best schoolmasters, and can teach us much more than we can ever learn from a book. And so I return to the mountains in search of another splendorous journey.
