National Juried Exhibition of 2016
The Arts & Culture Alliance is delighted to present its tenth annual National Juried Exhibition of 2016, a highly anticipated event that showcases selected works from 48 talented artists hailing from the vibrant Southeast region of the United States. Established in 2006, the National Juried Exhibition has grown to become a significant platform for local artists, allowing them to compete on a national level and present their finest creations to a wider audience. This year’s exhibition promises to be particularly exciting, as it features an impressive array of artistic styles and genres, representing both emerging talents and established artists who have made their mark in the art community. The exhibition encompasses a diverse range of media, including but not limited to photography, acrylics, pencil drawings, copper works, fibers, oil paintings, paper art, stoneware ceramics, and much more. This variety not only highlights the versatility and creativity of the artists involved but also ensures that there is something for every art enthusiast to appreciate. Each piece has been carefully selected by a panel of jurors, who have taken great care to curate a collection that reflects the artistic spirit and cultural richness of the Southeast. The exhibition will be on display in the Balcony gallery of the Emporium Center from February 5 through February 26, 2016. During this time, art lovers and collectors will have the opportunity to view and purchase many of the pieces, as most artworks will be available for sale until the exhibition concludes. This aspect of the event not only supports the artists financially but also encourages patrons to invest in original works of art, fostering a deeper connection between the artists and the community. To kick off the exhibition, a public reception is scheduled for Friday, February 5, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This festive gathering will feature a brief awards ceremony at 6:00 PM, during which over $1,000 in cash awards will be announced, recognizing the outstanding contributions of the participating artists. The First Friday reception is designed to be an engaging and lively affair, offering attendees a chance to mingle with the artists, fellow art enthusiasts, and the community. In addition to the visual feast of art, the reception will also include a captivating flamenco dance performance by Pasión Flamenco, scheduled from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM in the Black Box Theatre. This dynamic performance is sure to add an exciting cultural dimension to the evening. Following the dance, a Jazz Jam Session hosted by the talented Vance Thompson and Friends will take place from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the same venue, providing a perfect soundtrack for the celebration of art and creativity. To enhance the overall experience, complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served, allowing guests to enjoy delicious bites while they explore the exhibition. Additionally, a delightful chocolate fondue station will be provided by the Melting Pot of Knoxville, adding a sweet touch to the evening’s festivities. This combination of art, dance, music, and culinary delights promises to create a memorable event that celebrates the rich tapestry of artistic expression in the Southeast region.
