My Valentine Portrait of My Wife Kathy

My painting of my wife, Kathy, for Valentine's Day is a heartfelt tribute to the love and admiration I hold for her. As I embarked on this artistic journey, I wanted to capture not just her physical beauty, but also the essence of her spirit, which brings joy and warmth to my life every single day.

The canvas became a space where I could express my deepest feelings and showcase the intricate details that make Kathy so special. I chose a color palette that reflected her vibrant personality—soft pastels blended with bold, rich hues that symbolize her strength and kindness. Each brushstroke was deliberate, aiming to convey the love that fills our home and the laughter that often resonates in our shared moments.

In the composition, I chose to depict Kathy surrounded by her favorite color, pink. Selecting pink for a Valentine’s gift was an obvious choice for me. My initial idea was to include delicate flowers in the background as a tribute to her affection for them. Ultimately, I opted for a minimalist background to focus on her incredible personality and her just about ready to smile expression which I just adore.

As I painted, I reflected on our shared memories—the quiet evenings spent together, the spontaneous adventures that have become cherished stories, and the unwavering support we offer one another. Each memory infused into the painting added layers of meaning, transforming it into a visual narrative of our journey together.

The final touches were carefully applied, ensuring that every detail resonated with the depth of my feelings. I hoped that this painting would not only serve as a gift for Valentine's Day but also as a lasting reminder of the love that binds us. My intention was for Kathy to see herself through my eyes—a source of inspiration and love, deserving of celebration every day, not just on special occasions.
