Madonna in the Meadow By Raphael

This is my favorite painting by Raphael. It is titled "Madonna in the Meadow" or "The Madonna with the Christ Child and Saint John the Baptist". It was painted by the master in 1506 painting and is now held in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. Doge Giovanni Mocenigo By Gentile Bellini

Gentile Bellini (ca. 1429−1507), Doge Giovanni Mocenigo, 1478−85, Tempera on poplar panel (cradled) 25 1/2 x 18 3/4 in. - Frick Collection Giovanni Ser di Mocenigo, Jr., Jr. (1409 – September 14, 1485), Pietro Mocenigo's brother, was doge of Venice from 1478 to 1485. He fought at sea against the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II and on land against Ercole I d'Este, duke of Ferrara, from whom he recaptured Rovigo and the Polesine. He was interred in the Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo, a traditional burial place of the doges. His dogaressa was Taddea Michiel (d.1479), who was to be the last dogaressa to be crowned in Venice until Zilia Dandolo in 1557, almost a century later. - Wiki Eric Buechel F

Enthroned Virgin and Child at The Cloisters

This work of art is as charming as they come. The delinquencies in this piece are by a very well trained master of the 1300's and it's considered to be one of the great masterpieces in the museum. Long hidden in private collections, this ivory sculpture is one of the great masterpieces on view at The Cloisters. It belongs to a larger series of European thirteenth- and fourteenth-century, generally small-scale, precious ivory statuettes of the Virgin and Child in seated and standing postures. Most of the series is French, and certainly from the Île-de-France if not from the preeminent center, Paris. Japanese Samurai Coming to the Frist Center this Fall

I can hardly wait to see this exhibition at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. On November 4th the Samurai exhibition opens which I'm sure I'll visit a half dozen times. The title of the exhibition is called "The Way of the Warrior" which will be displayed in the Ingram Gallery.
