WATERCOLORS, OIL SKETCHES
AND INK DRAWINGS
Whether it's abstract or realism, the facts are clear - the artist must continue to develop the eye and hand throughout their career.
In my most current watercolors, oil sketches, and ink drawings, I've created final works of art rather than studies as I have done in the past. With these works, I've taken careful notes of artists like Albrecht Dürer, John Constable, and John Singer Sargent and their use of perspective, tone, and color in their sketches. In my drawings and painting sketches, I've used tone to its fullest potential in the area of mid-tones and shadows. In some of the ink drawings, the use of an airbrush was incorporated to highlight larger areas and negative shapes. I've never been a purest when it comes to my art; the final product and the connection it has in the end is what gives the product life.
