Walking on Water

In this Non-static Impressionism painting, I captured a moment from a hiking trip with my son George at a beautiful Tennessee State Parks in our local area. To create this blurred effect, there are no lines or definitive guides placed on the paper prior to applying the medium. Most styles of art first involve laying down a foundation of sorts to guide the placement of the paint or ink but not so with this blurred style. As children most of us can remember coloring within the lines of a coloring book page; not so with this impressionistic style. It is quite the opposite with the elimination of all lines. The image is laid down on the paper in a committed fashion as there is no turning back. Any corrections are, at best, difficult to make. This blurred final product is meant to invoke a memory, a moment in time. In this piece, the joyful bliss of childhood is depicted with the simple gesture of arms outstretched. You can almost hear the laughter that was sure to have occurred at that very moment.
