Kitchen Pop Art - A Series of
Three Hundred Images
In this series of work I borrow much of my imagery from my kitchen pantry and many walks through the isles of local grocery stores. Often the images would begin with a collection of color swatches and deciding on which background color would work well with the subject. Many times I found myself searching through Andy Warhol's work before beginning the mechanical steps in the process.
The design and layout of these images often seem to have a life of their own. Part of the process includes visualizing just how these works might look on the walls of my patrons dining room or den. The next steps incorporate an act of visual compression, in which photography, painting and the printing process merge to make a finished art piece. The result is works which is pleasing to the eye and invokes three great pleasures, food, drink and art.
Inspired By Warhol
"If you're not trying to be real, you don't have to get it right. That's art".
